Significant Growth in Renewable Energy Manufacturing
Siemens Gamesa, a global leader in renewable energy, has announced plans to expand its wind turbine manufacturing plant in Hull, a move expected to create 40 new jobs. Detailed plans have been submitted to Hull City Council for a new manufacturing building next to the existing facilities at Alexandra Dock. This expansion underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to the region and is anticipated to bring considerable economic, social, and environmental benefits to Hull.
Expansion to Boost Production Capacity
The proposed multi-purpose manufacturing building will stand 17.55 meters high, stretching 144 meters in length and over 38 meters in width. Additionally, a staff welfare building is included in the expansion plan. This development is part of Siemens Gamesa’s broader investment strategy, following the creation of hundreds of jobs last year as part of a £186 million investment in Hull. The company, which currently employs over 1,300 people at the blade factory, expects to add 40 more staff members to support the increased production and repair of wind turbine blades.

Architectural plans by Franks Shaw Associates reveal that the new facility will align with the size and design of the existing structure. The expansion is strategically significant for both local and national economic growth, aligning with policies aimed at supporting productivity and innovation. Siemens Gamesa’s spokesperson emphasized the importance of this development in meeting the ongoing demand for offshore wind blades, reinforcing Hull’s position as a key hub in the renewable energy industry.
